This is a special parcel of wine made with fruit from Coddington and Maté’s, two of Kumeu's finest single vineyard sites, designed to age. Ripe peach, some flint and moderate toasty new oak aromas on the nose. The palate is big and broad, resolutely New Zealand in style, mainly due to the particular level of ripeness and balancing acidity. Some of the richness is from barrel fermentation and malo character but lime citrus fruit keeps it fresh and energetic. The fruit intensity falls away on the finish at this stage of maturity but this will round out with 2-3 years in bottle and the minerality on the finish is already pretty profound and long. RKL
