Château des Jacques is owned by Louis Jadot but run as a separate estate, making very fine, age-worthy Cru Beaujolais from the Moulin a Vent and Morgon appellations. Although from 100% Gamay, the wines are known for their 'pinosity' i.e. having a pinot noir-like quality as they age. Another way to put it is to say they just taste like 'burgundy'! The Morgon 'Côtes du Py' is from granite soils with a high Manganese content, which gives even great potential for ageing (drink now-2040). It's already delicious though, with deep cherry fruit, firm tannins and lots of structure. RKL
