We have offered the new vintage release of Kumeu's range of Chardonnays for some years, but the 'Estate' wine never fails to impress, offering impressive Meursault-like breadth on the palate, and flavours of hazelnut, citrus oil, and a creamy texture, with lifted acidity that keeps it moving effortlessly throughout its long finish.

Winemaker Michael Brajkovich visited us here in Aldeburgh late last year. One of a select bunch of winemakers who are also Masters of Wine, we think this is one of the keys to why Kumeu's wines stand out as they do. Not only does Michael know how to make wine...his expert palate gives him tremendous insight into the style of wine he is trying to achieve.

As well as their quality, Kumeu's Chardonnays are famous for their ageing ability, suggesting an intention to make serious fine wines. Happily, they are also vibrant and delicious when young, so three years after the vintage, the 2023 Estate is just approaching its best.
